Egresado del Magíster “Situated Practice” de University College London, licenciado en Arte de la Universidad Católica de Chile y diplomado en Teoría del Cine (U. Católica) y Mundo Árabe Contemporáneo (U de Chile).

Su obra se ha centrado en investigar la idea de territorio bajo la relación dinámica con el hombre que lo habita, y de qué formas esta relación afecta tanto uno como el otro, definiendo paisajes e identidades. Los proyectos han abordado procesos socio-políticos específicos, donde perspectivas subjetivas, archivos y cartografías, han sido utilizados para contrastar historias y narrativas.

Ha participado en los programas de residencia “ZK/U” en Berlín, Alemania y “Laznia” en Gdansk, Polonia. Su trabajo ha sido expuesto en diferentes exposiciones y festivales de video, tanto en Chile como en el extranjero, entre los que destacan: “XX Bienal de Arquitectura”, PCdV, Chile; “Bienal de Artes Mediales”, MNBA en Santiago, Chile; “Sin tierra”, en Chile en el Museo de la Solidaridad Salvador Allende y Parque Cultural de Valparaíso, y en Territorios Palestinos, en Dar Al Kalima College y Khalil Sakakini CC; “Todo va a estar bien”, Galería Metales Pesados en Santiago, Chile; “Visiones Territoriales”, Centro Cultural La Moneda en Santiago Chile; “Bienal de la imagen y movimiento”, Buenos Aires; “Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlín/Madrid” en Haus der Kulturen der Welt de Berlín y Palais de Tokyo de París.

Ha recibido los siguientes reconocimientos: Mejor graduado del programa MA Situated Practice de UCL (2019); Becas Chile para Magíster en el extranjero de CONICYT (2017-18); Itinerancia exposiciones, línea artistas, DIRAC (2017); Fondart Ventanilla Abierta (2015); Fondart Nacional de Arte, modalidad Creación y Producción (2015).

Rafael Guendelman Hales is an artist who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Universidad Catolica de Chile (PUC) and with a Master degree in Situated Practice at University College London (UCL). He has a diploma in Film Theory (PUC) on Contemporary Arab World at Universidad de Chile

Visual artist from Chile. Rafael’s work has focus on the research of certain contexts and stories, and the relation of humans
with their territory in constructing identities. In that sense, the projects have been linke to both political and social processes, and to personal memories and marginal events; and how they can be narrated through art.

He completed a residency at ZK/U (Center for Art and Urbanistics of Berlin) and at Laznia in Gdansk, Poland. He has participated in different exhibitions and video festivals both in Chile and abroad, such as: Chilean Architecture Biennale; Chilean Media art Biennale, Todo va a estar bien, Metales Pesados Gallery; Visiones Territoriales, Centro Cultural La Moneda, Santiago; Sin tierra, Museo de la Solidaridad Salvador Allende y Parque Cultural de Valparaiso; II Bienal de la Imagen en Movimiento, Buenos Aires; Influjos, Centro Cultural de España, Santiago; Planisferio, Matucana 100, Santiago; Un esquimal con un zorro blanco que acaba de cazar, Casa de las Americas, La Habana; Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin/Madrid, at Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin and Palais de Tokyo, Paris; and Anexation Wall: 10 years too long, Al-ma’al Lab, Jerusalem and Dar-alkalima, Bethlehem.

Rafael has received the National Art Funds of Chile (FONDART) several times; the Art Funding of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DIRAC) and the National Scholarship for Master Studies (CONICYT).
